When to Book Newborn Photos in Pittsburgh, PA

As a mom myself, I remember spending so much time researching newborn photographers in Pittsburgh. The Google searching and Instagram scrolling at night seemed like a never ending task. So, from one mama to another, here are a few tips and tricks for scheduling your newborn session!
When Is the Best Time to Take Newborn Photos?
The ideal window for newborn photos is typically 10–14 days after baby is born. During this stage, babies are often sleepier, more easily swaddled, and naturally curled and cozy. That being said, every baby and family is different—and beautiful images can absolutely be captured outside of this window. The goal is always to photograph your baby when you feel ready and comfortable.
When Should You Reach Out to Book a Newborn Session?
The best time to reach out is during your second trimester! This will allow you to reserve a spot on my calendar and avoid scrambling once you are a bit busier close to delivery day and postpartum.
How Scheduling Actually Works (Because Babies Don’t Follow Calendars)
Babies often arrive early or late! We will pencil in a tentative session date based on your due date. I will check in leading up to your due date, and once baby arrives, we will choose a specific day and time that feels best for your family. I am very flexible with scheduling newborn sessions! I commit to a limited number of sessions per month to ensure I am able to meet your scheduling needs.
And remember, no matter when your newborn session takes place, we will keep it calm, fun, and baby-led! If you are currently pregnant and considering newborn photos, I would love to talk more about an in-home lifestyle newborn or studio session.
